However, there are 7 things you should consider before starting your next marketing campaign.

1. Consider Your Current Presence
How large are your follow lists? This is vitally important when considering a social media campaign as your followers will be the first to see and interact with your posts, including clicking on links, liking, sharing, retweeting and commenting. The more engagement each post receives, the more likely it is to be seen. If you do not have very many followers, you’ll need to take steps to find more followers. Of course, you’ll want to find followers that would be most interested in your products. For example, if you sell camping and hiking gear, you’ll want to find followers that are interested in nature and the outdoors.
2. Understand Your Demographic
What’s your preferred demographic? Not everyone is going to be interested in your products. For example, if you sell home remodeling or construction services, your demographic is going to be future and current homeowners, probably between the ages of 30 and 65. This is the demographic that’s going to be most interested in purchasing a custom home or remodeling their current home and also have the financial means to move forward on their projects.
3. Plan Your Social Media Campaign Timeline
How long do you plan to run your social media campaign and when is the best time to run the campaign? If you sell seasonal products and services, you’ll ideally want to start your campaign just prior to the start of the season and end it when the season ends. You can take this a step further by offering or highlighting different packages and discounts throughout your campaign. For example, you may want to offer the deepest discounts and sales early in the campaign to generate interest. Then, gradually decrease those discounts and sales throughout the campaign.
4. Consider Your Content
When promoting your brand, services and products, you’ll need to vary your content in order to provide your potential customers and clients with value and insight. Of course, you’ll want to post your products and services, but you’ll also want to design graphics to go along with the products that highlight the features, and you’ll want to create blog posts and informational articles so that your followers and potential clients get to know you and your business. Not to mention, most people are more willing to click on a link to a blog post or informational article than they are a product or service.
5. Utilize Automation
Social media automation for posts is considered light automation because it’s not terribly intrusive. Instead, you are simply ensuring that your social media feeds remain active even when you aren’t viewing your social media accounts. This can increase your presence and help you gain more interaction from your followers. We recommend posting multiple times a day, even overnight, in order to maximize your presence. However, you don’t want to post the same thing over and over again. That’s considered spam. Instead, you’ll want to schedule between 10 and 20 different posts each day in order to keep your feed interesting and entice viewers.
6. Remember to Interact
Interacting with your followers and the people who comment on your social media posts is vitally important. This is how you prove you’re available and build trust. At least once a day, you’ll need to go into your social media accounts and check your notifications. If you received a comment or a post or a direct message, you’ll need to respond to them. Of course, you may want to check your direct messages more often or set up your notifications so that you are alerted to new messages and can respond in a timely manner, usually anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.
7. Consider Social Media Advertising
Along with your regular advertising venues, like radio, TV and billboards as well as with Google Ads, you’ll want to utilize social media advertising. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all offer advertisement services where you can promote posts and/or your account or Facebook page. In fact, for Facebook, utilizing their paid advertising opportunities is vital. This is because with Facebook, you can reach thousands of people that may not have seen the posts on your page and don’t know about your services or products. Not to mention, the great thing about social media advertising is that you can set your reach by indicating your preferred demographic and locations as well as your daily and total campaign budgets. If you see a post or campaign that is doing particularly well, you can also increase its budget and runtime.
